We acknowledge the earth is warming and efforts should be made to deal with it — primarily by promoting technological innovations and using cleaner natural gas as a transition to renewables as time permits. But the nut cases on the far left in Germany are so obsessed with virtue signaling that they are closing down nuclear power plants, which account for zero carbon emissions, for the purpose of — get this — lowering carbon emissions.
Despite all their hype about renewables, they now acknowledge that wind and solar just don’t produce enough juice to offset the loss in nuclear power. Consequently, they will now go back to using far dirtier coal and oil to substitute for carbon-free nuclear energy.
