Shirley Man Indicted for Allegedly Stabbing a Man at Amusement Park

A Shirley man was indicted for first-degree assault and other related charges, for allegedly  stabbing a man at Adventureland Amusement Park in Farmingdale.

On July 7 at approximately 4:45 p.m., members of Daniel Tomasky’s family got into an  altercation with members of the victim’s family while visiting Adventureland Amusement  Park. The victim himself had not been involved in the altercation. Tomasky allegedly pulled a knife from his waistband, charged at the victim, and then stabbed him. The incident took place in front of numerous children. The victim was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, where he received surgery for his injuries.

Shortly after the incident, Tomasky allegedly placed the knife used during the attack in a sewer drain near his vehicle. He was then arrested at the scene by Suffolk County Police  officers. Law enforcement later recovered a knife from the sewer.

On August 7, Tomasky was arraigned on the indictment for one count of first-degree assault, a Class B violent felony; one count of second-degree assault, a Class D violent  felony; one count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class D felony; one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, all Class A misdemeanors.

Tomasky was ordered to be held on $50,000 cash, $100,000 bond, or $500,000 partially secured bond during the pendency of the case. He is due back in court on September 3.

“Our community deserves to feel safe in places open to the public, particularly those  designed for families,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney. “This indictment represents our  commitment to upholding that safety. We will pursue this case diligently, guided by the facts and the law.”
