Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating an attempted robbery by a woman at a bank in Yaphank and a robbery by a woman matching the same description at a Lake Ronkonkoma bank.
On July 10, a woman wearing a facemask and a motorcycle helmet entered Chase Bank, located at 128 Main St. in Yaphank. At approximately 10:00 a.m., the woman handed a note to a teller demanding cash. The teller did not comply and the woman fled the scene, getting on the back of a waiting motorcycle eastbound on Main Street.
That same day, a woman matching the same description entered TD Bank, located at 474 Portion Road in Lake Ronkonkoma. At approximately 3:05 p.m., the woman handed a note to a teller demanding cash. The teller complied and the woman fled the scene, getting on the back of a waiting motorcycle westbound on Portion Road.
