Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Shirley.
On July 11, David Arnold, 48, was crossing the road going northbound in front of 863 Montauk Highway in Shirley. At approximately 11:40 p.m., Arnold was struck by an SUV headed westbound on Montauk Highway. The SUV fled the scene, and Arnold was then run over by a westbound sedan, which also fled the scene heading northbound on William Floyd Parkway. Suffolk County Police transported Arnold via medevac helicopter to Stony University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
