Nassau County police arrested a homeless man for his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
On March 25 at 8:10 p.m., a 66-year-old male pedestrian, Narciso Guerra Lopez, was crossing Merrick Road in Freeport. Michael Bonner, who was traveling eastbound, allegedly struck Guerra Lopez, then fled the scene. The victim sustained serious physical injuries and was transported to a local area hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Police charged Bonner, 40, with Leaving the Scene of an Incident Resulting in Death and Tampering with Physical Evidence in the Second Degree. He was scheduled to be arraigned on April 5 at First District Court in Hempstead.
