Reports have surfaced that Long Island’s own Lee Zeldin is at the top of the list of possible replacements for Pam Bondi, who was recently let go by President Trump as the nation’s attorney general.
We believe that Zeldin would be an outstanding choice.
Zeldin is smart, fair and unflappable. He had a strong record as a state senator and a congressman from Long Island. He has also done a laudable job as the head of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Perhaps Zeldin’s best trait is his ability to stay the course, despite vicious attacks from the liberal media who want to continue business as usual.
Zeldin came into his position at the EPA vowing to end the wasteful giveaways that the Biden administration engaged in, using climate change as a ruse to reward his political allies. Case in point was the nearly $2 billion contract Biden sought to push out the door to former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams. Abrams cobbled together a not-for-profit just months prior to Biden leaving so that it could become a conduit to funnel the huge sums of money.
We’ve seen over and over how the climate change issue has been used as a vehicle by which virtue-signaling Democrats have been able to funnel billions of dollars to their allies who turn around and provide huge campaign donations back to the Democrats when they run for reelection.
But more importantly, Zeldin took a stake to the heart of the deep-state regulatory behemoth, whereby bureaucrats were implementing major policy decisions that belonged solely within the purview of our elected officials in Congress.
The extreme regulatory measures that the deep state imposed created an enormous strain on middle and small businesses throughout the nation and were stagnating the economy.
Zeldin never sought to decimate environmental protections, as the media claimed, but simply demanded that any such changes be done through the proper process through Congress. The days of bureaucrats in Washington adding on regulations that increased the cost of buying a car by almost $3,000 was going to come to an end.
Zeldin knew he was going to take flak from liberal outlets, such as The New York Times and Newsday, as well as some of the environmental extremists from his hometown. But he remained unfazed.
Just as impressive is how Zeldin reacts at congressional hearings where Democrats try to fluster him with their partisan attacks. He stands strong with his beliefs and fires back in a calm, measured and intelligent manner, never sinking to the gutter as some of his critics do.
Zeldin exhibits keen judgment and we believe he would provide a proper balance to make sure that the federal government is protecting the civil rights of all Americans and fighting the often illegal woke policies that have been allowed to consume the nation during the Biden years.
We hope that Zeldin gets the appointment and are confident he will do an outstanding job.
