Suffolk County Seventh Precinct detectives are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a woman in Rocky Point.
Ruth Ellerd was driving a 2017 Honda HRV southbound on Rocky Point Yaphank Road, one-half mile north of Whiskey Road, on December 2, when the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a tree at approximately 8:50 p.m.
Ellerd, 66, of Ridge, was transported via Rocky Point Rescue to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The Honda was impounded for a safety check.
