A crash involving numerous vehicles in Plainview has left one person dead and three hospitalized.
On April 3 at 1:58 p.m., a 71-year-old man, operating a 2018 Nissan Murano, was traveling westbound on Old Country Road and struck the rear driver side of a 2012 Toyota minivan, being operated by a 44-year-old man who was making a left onto Old Country Road from the South Oyster Bay Expressway. The Murano then crossed over into eastbound traffic, colliding with a 2007 Volvo, operated by a 50-year-old woman and a 2020 Kia driven by a 35-year-old woman.
The Murano continued on Old Country Road and struck a 2009 Volkswagen Rabbit, driven by a 49-year-old woman, who was accompanied by a 24-year-old passenger. The Rabbit was then involved in a collision with a 2013 Toyota Camry being operated by a 27-year-old woman, causing the Camry to be struck in the rear by a 2021 Subaru, operated by a 51-year-old woman.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the Murano was transported to a local area hospital and pronounced dead by a staff physician. Both operators of the Volvo and the Kia were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. The operator and passenger of the Volkswagen were also transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Both operators of the Toyota minivan and Subaru refused medical attention at the scene.
