
An Oceanside man was arrested for allegedly selling illegal drugs from a store that caught fire.
On August 21 at 2:25 p.m., officers responded to a commercial building located at 2901 Long Beach Road in Oceanside. When they arrived, officers observed heavy smoke coming from High Seas Gallery, located on the second floor. The Oceanside Fire Department and neighboring fire departments responded to extinguish the flames. The Nassau County Fire Marshal and Arson Bomb Squad were also at the scene. No injuries were reported.
After a thorough investigation, it was revealed that cannabis and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) were being sold from that location. Zachary Mednick, 31, of 3392 Poplar Street, was placed under arrest without incident and was also allegedly found to be in possession of assorted narcotics.
Police charged Mednick with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree. He was scheduled to be arraigned on August 22 at First District Court in Hempstead.
