Forged Documents to Delay Being Evicted from Her Home
A Sound Beach woman has pleaded guilty to filing court documents that were fraudulent in order to delay her eviction.
Eleanor Blakley-Whaley admitted in her plea that between November 1, 2022, and March 30, 2023, she filed six forged orders falsely claiming to have been issued by the Suffolk County District Court, stating that her eviction was stayed. These actions were taken after the original Warrant of Eviction was legitimately issued on June 29, 2022, and stayed until October 31, 2022.
In an unrelated case, on January 26, 2022, Blakley-Whaley pleaded guilty to second-degree grand larceny and was sentenced to three years of probation. Her latest criminal activities constitute a violation of her probation terms.
On April 30, 2024, Blakley-Whaley, 61, pleaded guilty before Acting County Court Judge James McDonaugh to one count of third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a Class A misdemeanor.
Sentencing for Blakley-Whaley is set for sentencing on May 21, 2024, and could face up to one year in jail.
“This case underscores the lengths to which individuals may go to circumvent our legal system,” stated Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney. “I commend the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office for their diligence in uncovering this deception.”
