Why Do Democrats Want to Weaken Voting Safeguards?

By Steve Levy

We feel compelled to ask the leadership of the Democratic Party why they push proposals to weaken the integrity of the voting process, despite the fact that rank-and-file Democrats want secure elections.

More specifically: Why would they oppose voter ID?

Why would they automatically register illegal aliens upon their getting a driver’s license?

Why would they promote same-day voter registration with no time to properly vet voters?

Why would they support ballot drop boxes which eliminate the ballot’s chain of custody?

Why would they mail out ballots to people who didn’t request them?

Why would they allow someone to register to vote by simply having someone else vouch for them, as they do in Minnesota?

The only reason you could support these crazy propositions is if you know that they would increase the amount of fraud in our elections, and that fraud would benefit your side of the aisle. Democratic leadership knows that these horrible policies can only help them in elections, which is why they are willing to sacrifice the integrity of the process simply to enhance their own power.

But beware. While a weakened electoral system might help one side today, it could help your political enemies down the road. When Americans don’t trust the results of an election outcome, the glue that binds us together disintegrates.
