We Warned Everyone about Wind Power. Now, It’s Coming True

Remember when Governor Kathy Hochul said “no” to the companies that wanted dramatic increases in the contracts they signed to erect offshore wind turbines? They complained that the original price they put in for the bid was not enough to allow them to complete the project.

We warned about this early on, noting that there was very little scrutiny of the numbers that were being thrown around. We were right, and had hope when Hochul said that the companies would have to live with their original bids.

Well, that was too good to be true. Hochul apparently made it look like she was being a fiscal watchdog when, in reality, she simply was asking these wind developers to submit entirely new bids. https://www.newsday.com/long-island/politics/hochul-sunrise-empire-wind-farms-u0gjk81b#

Well, that’s what they did. And lo and behold, the new bids are coming in three times higher than the original bids. Don’t hold your breath waiting for Hochul to reject these higher-cost bids. She’ll probably sign off due to pressure from the extremist green zealots that she relies on.

So we ratepayers will shell out three times the amount originally estimated for these projects. Once again, the governor and the far-left green lobby have made us into a bunch of suckers.
