Newsday and other media outlets published a story last week on the emergence of a new organization that focuses on interrupting the peaceful dinners and gatherings of those they seem to be privileged.
These outlets must be careful not to give credibility to these anarchists with sympathetic tones. The article gets the perspective of the organizer who comes across as a Marxist anarchist who takes glee in disturbing the peace.
But only the peace for those who he and his organization believe are successful and made money.
Which is why the event was staged by this organization at the famous American Hotel in Sag Harbor. The anarchists get together and protest individuals they merely perceive as being millionaires.
Why the perception of these particular folks? Because they’re white and dining in Sag Harbor, a known retreat for many high-income Long Island individuals.
These fools should be arrested for harassment. The Suffolk County Police Department, in conjunction with East End police departments and the FBI should zero in on them so that these incidents don’t spread.
There was a time in Europe, especially with the communist movement in Italy decades ago, where these types of anarchist movements led to incredible violence and destruction.
Is that where we’re heading here in America, as Marxism and anarchy gain credibility with the younger generation, the liberal media and leftist activists and politicians?
This madness should not be taken lightly. Unfortunately, this type of harassment should now become expected, since our leaders did nothing to quell the assaults these intimidators leveled against Jewish students on campus.
They did nothing to punish the leftist activists in the Black Lives Matter protests who destroyed billions of dollars in property and caused the deaths of scores of individuals nationwide.
They glorified murderers such as Luigi Mangione, who slayed a health care executive in cold blood.
These groups are getting their warped perspectives from our universities that are teaching our kids that this is a horrible, racist nation, and that those who succeed did so only by exploiting others.
When you teach this racist, inaccurate nonsense to children, many of them will believe it.
Yes, there was a quote from a representative of the chambers of commerce who wisely noted that these antics wound up hurting small business owners who run these restaurants and shops.
But why are we only concerned about small business owners? Why shouldn’t we also be concerned about any diner, regardless of their income, just going out to enjoy an evening with their friends and loved ones?
We should take these attacks seriously because, if we fail to do so, any one of us could be next.
