Our heads were spinning when we read an Associated Press article entitled “Illinois Attorney General to provide violent arrest by federal agent caught on video.”
The article suggests that it was the federal law enforcement agents who were out of control, bullying and inflicting unjustified pushback against the protesters. But, for the record, these weren’t just protesters; these were rioters engaged in illegal activity.
The article stated:
“Videos posted on social media show some in the crowd appearing to try to interfere with the arrest. Federal agents are seen at times deploying pepper spray, punching a man who approached the officers, and pointing a gun in the direction of another woman who opened the agent‘s vehicle door, where a detainee had been placed.”
The far leftists who comprise these rioting groups, including Marxists, Antifa, anarchists, and the illegal immigration lobby, are not just expressing disapproval with national policy — they are engaging in violent, illegal rioting that places federal agents and the public at large in danger.
It’s an atrocity that so many blue state officials are actually supporting this illegal activity and are categorizing federal agents seeking to enforce the law as the bad guys and illegal, violent rioters as the good guys and the poor victims.
How can someone expect to open a police car to let a detained individual out without any recourse from the officers?
Of course, a gun is going to be directed at that woman, as the potential for violence was escalated due to her outrageous actions.
When the article said that a person was punched while approaching officers, it wasn’t an approach that was seeking to have a civil conversation. It was a threatening attack that no law enforcement officer should have to put up with.
If you threaten an officer or give the appearance you’re about to assault them, they have every right to defend themselves.
And why is it improper for law enforcement to deploy pepper spray? How do you disperse a riot? If we had our druthers, we would bring back the water cannons, which have been very effective in containing rioters, as well as protesters who illegally block roads and bridges, thereby putting people’s lives in danger.
Too many are scared to use it because of the optics of bringing back images where the water cannons were used against African-American civil rights protestors in the past.
But those were mostly protests with permits and not attacking police. This is a different era that requires giving law enforcement tools they need to protect themselves and maintain order.
It starts by understanding who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. Too many blue city officials and the mainstream media have been mixing this up. Let’s get back to an America where we support law enforcement officials and tell rioters that they will not get off with just a slap on the wrist.
