Illegal immigration advocates recently filed into Islip Town Hall in an attempt to bully the town board into prohibiting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers from practicing their firearms training at a gun range in Islip.
Good for the town in standing tall and rejecting this ludicrous proposal.
Activists and far-left political officials shouted to the board, “Shame on you.” Actually, one could just as easily say shame on these advocates for trying to protect those who come into our nation illegally, and even those who commit crimes while they’re here.
Their goal is to prohibit ICE from carrying out its mission, which is to enforce our immigration laws. The day that ICE can no longer enforce our laws is the day we will have to declare that we are a de facto open-border society.
Note to these illegal immigration advocates and their far-left elected official supporters: ICE officers aren’t the bad guys. They’re the good guys. No one has a right to come into our country by cutting in line. Once you get here, you don’t have the right to claim that you are immune from being deported.
If the illegal immigration advocates want to have an open border, they should pass legislation that abolishes ICE, and all of our laws that say you can’t come into the country illegally.
They haven’t been able to pass such legislation because that’s not where the American public is. We are a nation that welcomes immigrants who come in legally.
Those who continue to ignore these laws and come in by cutting in line in front of others must know that, at any time, ICE officers can apprehend them and ask them to leave.
These advocates, many of whom have made a handsome living by promoting illegal immigration, like to throw around the race card, claiming that opponents of illegal immigration are anti-Hispanic or xenophobic. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the majority of Hispanics oppose illegal immigration. These illegal immigration advocates don’t speak for the Hispanic population.
So good for the town in standing up to the hateful proposals from these activists seeking to demonize ICE officers just doing their jobs.
