How the NAACP, ACLU Became Dupes of the Democratic Party

There was a time when organizations such as the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the Legal Aid Society and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) were revered for their independence and being able to preach truth to power.

Though they were left-leaning in their outlook, they were never seen as a tool of either political party.

Those days are long gone.

These once-prestigious organizations are now simply partisan actors who are basically arms of the Democratic Party and their politically left-wing operatives.

An example is how the NAACP is fighting a transfer of money from the Department of Education back to the states and to direct improvement of childhood education. Minorities, especially African-Americans, are strongly supportive of charter schools so that parents can get their kids out of violent and failing schools.

Yet the NAACP, which is supposed to represent the African-American community, is actively opposing their wishes and their interests. That’s because the leaders of the NAACP are more interested in ingratiating themselves with Democratic leadership on Capitol Hill to keep the monetary gravy train flowing to their not-for-profit.

The ACLU once stood as a vanguard in protecting free speech, even if it meant supporting the right of Nazis to peacefully march down a street in Illinois. It was the protection of free speech, not partisanship, that defined them. But now it’s clear they are really just a mouthpiece of the Democratic Party. Notice their blatant partisanship in one of their most recent fundraising attempts after the last election. Here’s what they published:

When Trump once again set his sights on the White House, the ACLU’s legal and advocacy experts drafted a roadmap to combat his administration head-on.

The ACLU often represents the interests of defendants, as does the Legal Aid Society. Here on Long Island, the Nassau County chapter, which should be nonpartisan and devoted toward providing legal assistance for the poor, is now a partisan shell.

Their union adopted a resolution in November 2023 criticizing Israel for its actions in the conflict after the October 7 attacks. Why in the world is this union venturing into that area?

Four members of Legal Aid brought a lawsuit to stop the union from engaging in this radically extraneous, crazy resolution. They were summarily expelled from the union.

Thankfully, a court has reversed this bizarre decision.

But it’s clear these organizations are no longer independent groups speaking truth to power. They are merely a bunch of partisans.
