As I was flipping through Newsday the other day, I hit page 5 and saw this big picture of a bearded man returning from overseas with his mother giving him a big hug. I thought this for sure was the picture of an Israeli hostage who had been freed and was welcomed home by his loved ones.
A two-page layout was dedicated toward the photo and its surrounding story. Was it about the horrors that this hostage endured at the hands of Hamas? No, wait… this wasn’t about a hostage being released. This was the photo of a Bohemia resident coming back from a trip to the Middle East, where he was looking to join hands with Israel-hating Greta Thunberg on a flotilla to lambaste the Israeli government’s retaliatory efforts against Hamas.
The individual named Eric Lein wanted to bring attention to what he claimed were Israeli atrocities in Gaza, including spreading famine.
What he didn’t say is that Israel may be the only nation in the history of warfare that was expected to feed the combatants with which it is presently at war. Notwithstanding this double standard, Israel has poured millions of dollars into relief, only to see it stolen by Hamas leaders so that they can sell it back to the Palestinian people to keep funding their terrorist activity.
Lein and others decry Israel’s retaliation to the genocide carried out by Hamas on October 7, 2023, but think about how absurd it would be for these protestors and the rest of the world to tell America that we couldn’t retaliate after we were attacked on September 11th.
The final insult is that Lein associates himself with Thunberg, who is a delusional attention seeker. The dishonesty of their movement was encapsulated by Thunberg holding up a photo of an emaciated-looking man whom she claimed was a Palestinian being starved by the Israelis. Irony of ironies. It was actually a picture of a Jew, who was captured by Hamas on October 7 and has been held as a hostage since.
He was emaciated due to the fact that he’s being starved by Hamas. It’s the same as a Jewish captive who Hamas admits has been forced to dig his own grave. And these are the people that Lein is supporting.
Shame on those who are supporting Lein.
