Fighting the Woke War on our Mascots

Kudos to U.S. Education Secretary Linda McMahon for joining the fight against the woke New York State Regents’ deplorable decision to force schools to change the name of their logos that recognize the American Indian tradition on Long Island.

Several of our hamlets, including Massapequa and Ronkonkoma, were named after American/Indian history. This was done to honor, not degrade, the American Indians, who settled this area.

While a term like “redskin” can be offensive, others such as “warrior,” “chief,” or “Indian” serve to praise the fighting spirit of a culture.

Leave it to the woke idiots in New York State to virtue signal and turn our traditions upside down for no valid reason.

But what’s most disturbing is that our own Long Island representative on the Regents Board, Roger Tilles, was at the forefront of supporting this attack on our local schools.

Long Island’s Tilles has not been a friend to Long Island. He has watered down standards, allowed for pornographic materials to be placed in our schools, did nothing to stop the Regents usurping local district control, and now has not lifted a finger for the many districts who are pleading with the state to leave intact the pride we have in our school names.

Let’s get representatives from Long Island who will support Long Island.
