We emphasized in our last editorial that Donald Trump’s lack of preparation and tendency to ramble and improv is what caused him to lose his debate with Kamala Harris. Notwithstanding his flaws, it cannot be denied that there was an enormous double standard when it came to the ABC moderators and how they dealt with the debaters.
This should be no surprise to anyone who saw the study conducted by the Media Research Center, which noted that, since Kamala Harris was designated as the Democratic nominee, she has received 100% positive stories. Meanwhile, Donald Trump garnered only 7% positive and 93% negative stories.
That bias was evident again in the debate. The questions themselves were rather fairly balanced, but what was different was the fact-checking.
The moderators fact-checked Trump numerous times, and often were actually wrong in their facts. Trump noted how, in Virginia, some babies are born lying on the operating table until the parents and doctors decide if they’re going to allow the baby to live or not. He specifically cited comments by former Virginia Governor Ralph Northam. The moderator quickly jumped in and claimed that there is no state that allows for such a procedure. Whether or not that’s the case, it was the governor who claimed that this was common practice. So, Trump wasn’t wrong.
They also tried to correct him on illegal immigrants attacking pets in Ohio cities. Again, the moderators were quick to jump in and say that these are false statements. However, Trump was quoting residents of the area who had firsthand knowledge of these events. Regardless of the fact that it was insane for Trump to bring up this matter when he could’ve just talked about the economic impact of illegal immigration, the moderators felt compelled to suggest Trump was lying.
On the other hand, they took a snooze when Harris blurted out easily refutable lies. She and Biden continue to lie that Trump said that Nazis and skinheads were “very fine people.” Anyone looking at the tape knows that he specifically excluded them from that equivalence. Why do Harris and Biden continue to spread this lie? It’s because they know that the liberal media will never call them out on it.
She also continued to lie that Trump was going to block IVF, even though he’s emphatically stated that he’s in favor of it and would require insurance companies to pay for it. No pushback from the moderators.
Then she claimed that Trump had embraced Project 2025, which is absolutely untrue. The moderators could’ve pushed back and said, “Madam Vice President, Donald Trump has posted on his website specific policy positions that have nothing to do with Project 2025 and they had existed there before the report ever came out. Yet, you are disavowing yourself from your past positions and have few, if an,y specifics listed on your website.”
We repeat that this bias was not the reason Trump lost the debate. But it should be a wake-up call for those who don’t follow politics about just how biased the legacy media is.
