If you want another example of blatant media slanting of the truth (besides what you’d find in my book Bias in the Media), check out an article entitled “Trump‘s tax cuts not so big for many” issued by Bloomberg News.
It seeks to give the impression that President Trump lied about saving the average taxpayer a good deal of money with his One Big Beautiful Bill last year.
The article quotes a director of the Cato Institute saying: “Your sort of typical W-2 worker with no kids will see very little change year over year.”
That’s true. There will be very little change, but the point of the Trump bill was to prevent those tax cuts enacted in 2017 from expiring. Had they expired, the average tax bill for middle-class people would’ve jumped by thousands of dollars.
The action by Congress earlier this year to extend the tax cuts is of enormous benefit to these taxpayers.
No, it was never promised that there would be additional cuts to those implemented in 2017. The debate centered around whether they would expire and residents would see a hefty increase in their tax bills. The increase was averted, and it was cause for celebration. But typical of the liberal media, they make it sound as though Trump and the Republicans were lying about saving residents money.
It’s tough enough for Republicans to get tax cuts through Congress, but it’s made even tougher when the Democrats and their allies in the media distort the truth on behalf of the liberal big spenders.
