America’s Poor Carry the Financial Burden of Illegal Immigration

By Steve Levy

For all those well-meaning but misguided folks who think that unbridled mass illegal immigration is a humane gesture, new statistics show that to be a cruel lie.

The huge surge in illegal border crossings has placed an enormous strain on the nation’s healthcare system and housing market, especially for lower-income Americans.

The statistics are now out and they show that homelessness surged by an alarming 18% in 2024 over the previous year and by a shocking 39% for families, both records. As noted in the Washington Examiner’s editorial, this cannot be chalked up to racism or just inflation. Inflation was even higher in the first years of the Biden administration and racism just didn’t suddenly just come onto the scene over the last year.

No, the difference maker here is the millions of undocumented people who were welcomed to flood our cities and localities and are seeking housing of their own. When there’s only so many units to be occupied, someone is going to be left out, just like in a game of musical chairs.

Attention also must be given as to how our healthcare system is facing more and more stress as well. An outstanding column from the New York Post’s Miranda Devine notes how illegal aliens have placed an enormous strain on our hospitals and overall healthcare system which aims to ensure no one is left out in the cold. Waiting times at out hospitals for American citizens have increased sharply and costs to the overall system have also spiked because most of these illegal immigrants are not contributing financially to the healthcare system. Their costs are made up by other people already in the system.

Real American citizens are being dramatically impacted. It is mean and inhumane not to feel for these American citizens who are being priced out.

Also note how you would have to search non-leftist media outlets to get this important information. The AP recently ran a story on the increased homelessness and never mentioned the migrant crisis.

You won’t be seeing these facts in the leftist mainstream media, but you will find it here at Long Island Life & Politics.
