Will Barclay, the New York State Assembly’s minority leader, commented on the recent decision by the Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE) to release the report on former Governor Andrew Cuomo’s book deal.
“In what would appear to be its final meeting, the Joint Commission on Public Ethics voted 10-1 to publicly release the report on their staff’s 2020 approval of disgraced former-Gov. Cuomo’s $5.1 million book deal,” Assemblyman Barclay said. “Since its inception eleven years ago, the commission has seemingly gone out of its way to be anything but transparent and straightforward.”
He continued, “The circumstances surrounding their staff’s approval of Cuomo’s book deal, written during one of the worst public health crises in modern-day history, deserve to be public. In their final act, I am pleased to see that the members finally took a step toward protecting ethics in New York State.”
