Calls County Executive ‘A Fantastic Guy’

A day after U.S. Representative Elise Stefanik (R-Plattsburgh) announced that she was dropping out of the governor’s race, President Donald Trump posted on social media that he is fully endorsing Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman to be governor.
As previously reported in Long Island Life & Politics, Stefanik announced on December 19 that she is no longer running for governor and she is not seeking reelection for her seat in Congress. She said she wanted to spend more time with her family.
LILP also reported that Blakeman later received the endorsement of the Suffolk County Republican Committee.
“I am blessed and grateful to have the endorsement of President Donald J. Trump,” Blakeman said in a statement. “President Trump is driving down gasoline prices and slashing the cost of prescription drugs. Securing our borders has made America safer. President Trump loves New York and we will be partners in making New York safe and affordable,” County Executive Bruce Blakeman said.
Trump announced his endorsement on his TruthSocial page,

LILP reached out to the Nassau County and New York State Democratic Committees for comment.
“Trump’s endorsement only confirms what we already know: Bruce Blakeman is a right-wing MAGA extremist,” NYS and Nassau County Democratic Committee Chair Jay Jacobs said in a statement. “He has fully aligned himself with Trump’s agenda, one that threatens healthcare, drives up everyday costs, and puts our children and communities at risk. His divisive culture-war politics, fear-mongering, and reckless, wasteful spending have already jeopardized the welfare of Nassau County residents and would be highly dangerous on a statewide scale.”
Hochul Campaign Spokesperson Sarafina Chitika said in a statement, “Donald Trump endorsed Bruce Blakeman for one reason: he’ll put Trump first, New York last, and leave families to foot the bill. Take it from Trump, Blakeman is ‘MAGA all the way’ – he cheered Trump’s expensive tariffs that jack up costs for New Yorkers, ran Nassau’s safety-net hospital into the ground, and stayed silent when Trump slashed nearly $200 million from the NYPD. Blakeman should have learned a lesson from Elise Stefanik: MAGA sellouts don’t win New York, and they sure as hell don’t end up in the governor’s mansion.”
