New York State Assemblyman Fred Thiele recently received an endorsement from the League of Humane Voters of New York. The mission of the League of Humane Voters is to create, unite and strengthen local political action committees, which work to enact animal-friendly legislation and elect candidates for public office who will use their votes and influence for animal protection.

Thiele has always been a passionate advocate for animals and has demonstrated a solid commitment to animal protection issues in New York State. In 2019, the then-Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation drafted by Thiele which authorizes firefighters and other emergency medical responders to remove animals from unattended motor vehicles under conditions that endanger their health or wellbeing. Most recently, Thiele co-sponsored legislation, currently awaiting Governor Kathy Hochul’s signature, that would shut down the puppy mill pipeline and end the retail sale of dogs, cats and rabbits in pet stores across the state.

“I am incredibly honored to have received this endorsement from the New York State League of Humane Voters, and I look forward to continuing to work together with an organization that plays such an important role in fighting for animal protection laws throughout our state,” said Assemblyman Thiele.

Thiele’s other endorsements include the New York League of Conservation Voters, New York State United Teachers, New York State Laborers’ PAC, New York State AFL-CIO, Long Island Federation of Labor, Long Island Gasoline Retailers Association, New York State Public Employees Federation, CWA Local 1109 AFL-CIO, Sierra Club, Newsday, and the Business Council of New York State.
