On September 18, Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D-Valley Stream), the first Haitian-American elected to the Legislature, led a protest of former President Donald Trump’s rally at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum to condemn what he says was anti-Haitian rhetoric from him and his running mate, U.S. Senator J.D. Vance (R-Ohio). He was joined by former New York Governor David Paterson and Assemblyman Phil Ramos (D-Brentwood) and members of the Haitian-American community.
