The New York State Democrats launched a new commercial against Nassau County Executive and GOP gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman as part of its seven-figure ad campaign blitz.

In the commercial, called “Suck-Up,” the party blasts Blakeman for being the single biggest fan of Donald Trump’s illegal, expensive tariffs as Governor Hochul fights for $1,700 tariff rebates to put money back in the pockets of New York families.

“Bruce Blakeman can’t stop sucking up to Donald Trump,” the voiceover said. “And Blakeman loves Trump’s tariffs, too.” The tariffs, said the voiceover, are “crushing New Yorkers, closing businesses, raising costs and killing jobs.”

The commercial will air on streaming and digital platforms, as well as key social media platforms. The campaign will run from spring to summer.

“Bruce Blakeman cares more about making Donald Trump happy than helping New Yorkers,” said New York State Democratic Party Chairman Jay S. Jacobs. “While Blakeman cheers on Trump’s expensive, illegal tariffs, Governor Hochul is putting money back in New Yorkers’ pockets – fighting for tariff rebates, cutting middle-class taxes, and delivering inflation refund checks. The choice in this race is simple: a leader fighting to keep money in our pockets or a MAGA Republican who’s in the pocket of Donald Trump.”

Blakeman responded to the ad. “For four years, New Yorkers have been told to ‘suck up’ higher taxes, rising utility bills, soaring insurance costs, and skyrocketing rent under Kathy Hochul,” he said. “It’s no surprise she’s resorting to attacks instead of answering for the affordability crisis created on her watch.”
