Congressional candidate John Avlon will speak at the next LIMBA (Long Island Metro Business Action) meeting on October 18, starting at 8:30 a.m. The meeting will be held at Candlelight Diner, located at 56 Veterans Memorial Highway in Commack. The discussion will be about Mr. Avlon’s candidacy and how he plans to address the challenges facing New York’s 1st Congressional District. 

Avlon, who is running as a Democrat against Republican incumbent Nick LaLota (R-Rocky Point), is an author, presidential historian, and frequent commentator on CNN, has been a consistent advocate for bipartisan collaboration and practical approaches to addressing the issues facing the nation. As a candidate for New York’s 1st Congressional District, he said he is focused on tackling the cost of living crisis, uplifting small businesses, and rebuilding the middle class. He said he has also consistently advocated for bipartisan approaches that help everyday Americans. 

In his campaign for Congress in New York’s 1st Congressional District, Avlon said he is focusing on key priorities such as securing federal investment in climate change mitigation, improving transportation infrastructure, and providing support for working families. These has made these issues central to his platform and these issues reflect his commitment to addressing the needs of his constituents. Other issues of importance to him include protecting women’s reproductive rights, restoring state and local tax deductions, and expanding the child tax credit to support working parents. Public safety remains a key concern, and he is committed to ensuring that communities have the resources needed to maintain safety and security.

Avlon is a native New Yorker, grandson of immigrants, and has made his home in Suffolk County with his wife and two children.
