Assemblyman Keith Brown (R,C-Northport) has been appointed by Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R,C,I-Pulaski) to serve on the Legislative Commission on the Modernization and Simplification of Tax Administration and Tax Law for the 2025-2026 legislative term.
This commission was established to review the Tax Law and the way in which it is administered to determine its effectiveness and administration in achieving state policy goals while achieving the traditional objectives of simplicity, fairness, ease of administration and equity. It also makes recommendations to the Legislature for such actions as it determines necessary for the achievement of those goals and objectives.
“I am honored to serve on this legislative commission to modernize and simplify tax law in New York State,” said Brown. “The high cost of living and affordability issues in our state are a tremendous burden on New York taxpayers, weighing them down a little more each year. It’s critical this commission properly analyzes the current effectiveness of tax law and administration and identifies strategies to improve it. It’s time we get to work to bring Long Islanders and New Yorkers the financial security and peace of mind they deserve.”
