A Baldwin man has been arrested for a disturbance that occurred at a polling station in Oceanside on Election Day.
On November 5 at 3:10 p.m., officers responded to a dispute that took place at a polling station located at Oceanside School #3 at 2852 Fortesque Avenue. When police arrived, officers were told that Mark W. Sebesta, 54, of 2688 Soper Avenue, who was a polling worker, was involved in a verbal argument and threatened a 25-year-old male constituent. Officers attempted to diffuse the situation when Sebesta, who falsely identified himself as a law enforcement agent, became aggressive. After a brief struggle, officers were able to place Sebesta into custody. He was transported to a local area hospital for evaluation and treatment. The constituent was not injured and voting operations were not disrupted.
Sebesta was charged with third-degree menacing, second-degree harassment, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and second-degree criminal impersonation. He was scheduled to be arraigned on November 6 at First District Court in Hempstead.
