Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon, Jr., distributed holiday meals for those in need at the 8th Annual Suffolk Sheriff’s Office Thanksgiving Food Distribution, which took place on November 24.

Over 500 turkeys, along with trimmings (gravy, stuffing and sides) were given out at the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office START Resource Center to pre-selected residents and non-profit groups at a drive-thru event. Families in need of holiday meal help were identified by the START Center and their partner non-profit service agencies to guarantee that they can receive a free Thanksgiving meal.

“With the cost of groceries and household expenses on the rise, more and more of our neighbors are in need.” Toulon said. “The Sheriff’s Office is proud to be able to hold this turkey donation event to help Suffolk County families in need and provide them with some cheer and comfort this holiday season. Thank you to our sponsors and our non-profit partners who help to make this event possible year after year.”

The turkeys and sides were donated by the Urban League of Long Island, Wegmans, Helping Makes You Happy, True North Community Church, United Way, Long Island Cares, Lidl, Church On The Hill Middle Island, Axis Church, Caitlyn’s Vision, Walmart, Agard Regulatory Group, the Suffolk County Correction Officers Association (SCCOA) and the Suffolk County Deputy Sheriff Police Benevolent Association (SCDSPBA).
