FIRST Long Island has named Patrise Miller as its new executive director. She replaces Bertram Dittmar, who has stepped down from the position, but still remains with the organization as a board member.

Miller — a longtime volunteer for FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Long Island — is a senior certified human resources professional with 20 years of experience. She has been head of HR at Schenck USA Corp., a German-owned industrial machine manufacturer headquartered in Deer Park, since 2001.

Her passion for community involvement began as a young Girl Scout and deepened during her 15-year tenure as troop leader. A former educator, she continues to mentor students and aspiring human resources professionals as an active member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) Long Island, channeling her commitment to building the next generation of talent.

Miller earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany, a Master’s degree from Stony Brook University and a New York State Certificate in Labor Management. She is also a member of SHRM and the Hauppauge Industrial Association (HIA-LI).

“I am honored to be named to this esteemed position,” Miller said. “I look forward to continuing my involvement in this organization and helping shape young people’s lives and career paths. I strongly believe that investing in youth is a crucial investment in our collective future.”
