Nassau County Legislator and Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Siela Bynoe (D-Westbury) announced on Facebook that the Village of Westbury has received $7 million for a streetscape and traffic safety project.

The money came from $10.5 million that Bynoe secured as part of Nassau’s Capital Plan. The project entails making improvements to the sidewalks along Maple Avenue and Union Avenue. “I worked with the village to facilitate the delivery of these resources to expedite the project’s completion and build upon the cohesive atmosphere we began to cultivate through downtown revitalization and the Post Avenue streetscape,” Bynoe said.

The grant extends the capital improvements made to Post Avenue, according to Westbury Village Mayor Peter Cavallaro, which he said were “sorely needed.” As part of. the program, the village is creating a plaza in front of the VFW Hall that now houses the Village Local Military History Museum.

He said on Facebook, “This project continues our commitment to upgrading our Village infrastructure for the future of our community.”
