Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D-Glen Cove) joined U.S. Congressman Thomas R. Suozzi, her colleagues in Manorhaven Village government, and leaders of the Port Washington Water District on February 27 to celebrate the arrival of millions in new federal funding for vital water quality projects.

Manorhaven Village received $1.092 million to aid in the replacement of a nearly 70-year-old gravity sewer pipe beneath Sheets Creek Channel, while the Port Washington Water Pollution Control District’s $1.092 million federal allocation will be applied toward essential upgrades for a pair of pumps that are over 60 years old.

“Congressman Suozzi’s relentless advocacy has delivered nearly $2.2 million for critical infrastructure improvements that will safeguard our drinking water and protect Manhasset Bay – all while alleviating the tax burden on local residents for these essential upgrades,” DeRiggi-Whitton said.
