On May 24, local war veterans, residents, and members of the Col. Francis S. Midura Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #12144 and the Central Islip Fire Department joined Islandia Village Mayor Allan M. Dorman for a special Memorial Day wreath laying ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Triangle on May 24. The ceremony honored those who sacrificed their lives for this country.

During the ceremony, Dorman recognized those veterans who were in attendance and asked everyone else to remember those who sacrificed their lives so that this country continues to remain free.

The ceremony also included an invocation by VFW Post #12144 Chaplain Tom Brauner and ended with a laying of the wreaths by members of the VFW and village officials.
