Two Injured at Oceanside Recycling Facility

Two people were injured when a conveyor belt fell on top of them at a recycling facility in Oceanside.

Nassau County Fourth Precinct Officers responded to Earth-Tec Recycling, located at 495 Wood Street, on August 25 at 10:20 a.m. for reports of multiple injuries. Upon arrival, they located two male victims who were injured when a conveyor belt fell on top of them. Both victims were extracted from under the conveyor belt with assistance from the Nassau County Police Emergency Service Unit (ESU) and the Oceanside Fire Department.

The first victim, a 62-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by the Oceanside Fire Department to a nearby hospital for treatment. The second victim, a 68-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted by a Nassau County Police Helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment. He is listed as critical but stable condition at this time.
