Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officers and a good Samaritan rescued three men from a boat that caught fire in the Great South Bay.

Marine Bureau officers responded to a report of a fire on a boat in the Great South Bay, approximately one mile south of Timber Point, on May 25 at 9:43 a.m. On scene, officers found a 2014 Rodma cruiser fully engulfed and three passengers — David Collins of East Patchogue, Michael Flemming of Farmingville and Inshaw Khan of Shirley — had evacuated the boat and were on board a nearby vessel with a good Samaritan. The three men were all transferred to a Marine Bureau boat while Marine Kilo deployed fire suppression hoses to extinguish the fire.

No injuries were reported due to the fire and the boat was impounded. Marine Bureau Juliet, Kilo, and Mike all responded to the scene, as did the East Islip, Bayport, and Great River fire departments.
