In a prestigious recognition of his service and dedication to the community, Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D-Valley Stream) was named one of the Inwood Civic Association’s Citizens of the Year. The accolade was presented during a celebration at the Inwood Country Club on March 10. He was honored alongside Town of Hempstead Councilwoman Melissa “Missy” Miller.
The honor comes in acknowledgment of Solages’ extensive involvement and advocacy within the Inwood community. Among his notable contributions are his support for the Five Towns Community Center, collaboration with local community organization leaders such as those from Gammy’s Pantry, and advocacy for EZ Pass service on the Atlantic Beach Bridge. The bridge is a vital link between Lawrence and Atlantic Beach to the mainland, facilitating direct access to the Rockaway Peninsula over NY 878 at the west end of Reynolds Channel.
Reflecting on the recognition, Legislator Solages expressed deep humility and gratitude towards the Inwood Civic Association and the community leaders. He remarked on the profound bonds forged through collective advocacy efforts and reiterated his unwavering commitment to the prosperity and diversity of Inwood, aspiring to elevate it as a leading community in the region.
“It was extremely humbling and gratifying to be recognized by the Inwood Civic Association and all of the community leaders and friends I have built such close bonds with during the course of our shared advocacy,” Solages said. “Inwood will always have a special place in my heart, and I will never waver as an ally in the mission to make this beautiful, diverse community the ‘first of the Five Towns’ in the years to come.”
