Defendant Was Out on Parole for a Prior Burglary Conviction When He Committed the Crime
A Bellport man pleaded guilty to burglarizing another home while he was out on parole for a prior
burglary conviction.
Arnaldo Marcano, 42, pleaded guilty on May 4 to second-degree burglary, a Class C violent felony, for
burglarizing a home in Bellport.
According to the investigation and the defendant’s admissions during his plea allocution, on February
24, 2023, at approximately 12:25 a.m., Marcano broke a window of a residence in Bellport and entered
the home, where he stole money before fleeing the residence on foot.
At the time of this crime, Marcano was out on parole following 2004 convictions in Suffolk County for
first-degree burglary, a Class B violent felony, and six counts of second-degree burglary, all Class C
violent felonies. In 2000, Marcano was convicted of third-degree attempted burglary, a Class E felony.
Marcano is due back in court on June 7, when he is expected to be sentenced to 10 years in prison.
“This defendant was just out of prison and still on parole for prior home burglaries when he once again
broke into someone’s home,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney. “This 10-year sentence
will keep the community safe from this serial burglar. I will continue to do my part as District Attorney
by keeping Suffolk County residents safe by preventing individuals such as this defendant from
terrorizing our neighborhoods.”
