
Officers from the Nassau County Police Marine Bureau unit responded to a water emergency at Lido Beach.
On August 31 at 10 a.m., Marine 6 of the Nassau County Police Marine Bureau Unit was actively monitoring VHF radio frequencies when they heard reports of a capsized vessel near the Jones Inlet with four passengers on board. Upon arrival, the four passengers had all safely reached a nearby sandbar and were transported by the Town of Hempstead Bay Constables with the assistance of Marine 6 to Point Lookout.
The capsized 16-foot fishing boat was successfully retrieved by Sea Tow. No injuries were reported at the scene.
