Comments Still Accepted until September 29

More than 250 residents gathered at the Town Hall auditorium on August 29 for a public hearing on the proposed Neighborhood Road Revitalization project in Mastic Beach. During the event, hosted by the Brookhaven Town Board, community members voiced their concerns, asked questions, and offered constructive suggestions on the future of the renewal project.

Dozens of Mastic Beach residents took to the microphone throughout the evening, sharing personal stories, raising thoughtful inquiries, and proposing ideas to improve road safety, accessibility, and long-term maintenance. Town Supervisor Dan Panico said the high turnout and passionate participation underscored the community’s deep investment in shaping the revitalization plan.

“This is exactly the kind of dialogue we need,” he said. “Hearing directly from residents helps us build a plan that reflects the real needs of the neighborhood.”

Councilwoman Karen Dunne Kesnig added, “We are committed to giving Mastic Beach residents a downtown of which they can be proud of; a place where they can eat, shop and meet friends and family, and be proud to call their home.”

Public comments are still being accepted until September 29. They can be sent to PELM Commissioner James Tullo, Brookhaven Town Hall, 1 Independence Hill, Farmingville, NY 11738, or emailed to jtullo@brookhavenNY.Gov
