One Killed, 2 Seriously Injured in Lindenhurst House Fire

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are investigating a house fire that killed a woman and seriously injured two men in Lindenhurst last night.

First Precinct officers responded to 9 Storz Place after a 911 caller reported a fire on January 9 at 11:11 p.m. Three occupants of the home were taken out of the house by police and first responders.

A woman, who is yet to be identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene by Copiague Fire Department. An autopsy will be performed by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to determine her identity and cause of death. Two men, who are also yet to be identified, were transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries, then transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital for further treatment.

Two First Precinct patrol officers were transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of smoke inhalation and released. There were no other people in the house at the time of the fire, and no other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but does not appear to be criminal at this time.
