North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jennifer DeSena and members of the North Hempstead Town Board were sworn in on January 7, as more than 300 people packed the room for an inauguration ceremony at Harbor Links Golf Course in Port Washington. DeSena officially began her third term as supervisor, and the town’s re-elected officials — Town Clerk Ragini Srivastava, District 1 Council Member Robert Troiano, Jr., District 3 Council Member Dennis Walsh and newly elected District 5 Council Member Yaron Levy — were inaugurated at the ceremony as well.

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman administered the oath of office during DeSena’s swearing-in. “I have a wonderful team who are truly dedicated to making local government accountable to its residents and who get more done with less,” DeSena said. “It’s not only about how we rebuild a town, but also how we rebuild faith in local government.”

Srivastava was sworn in for her second four-year term. “I’m very grateful to our residents for putting their trust in me,” she said. “My team is energized for another four years, and I’m excited to continue reshaping our office to better serve our neighbors.”

Troiano, who first served as a North Hempstead town council member from 2004 to 2010, was re-elected in both 2022 and 2026. “This represents my 15th swearing-in to elected positions ranging from school board to the county legislature to the town council,” he said. “I treat this one as seriously and solemnly as my first. It provides an opportunity to publicly renew my commitment to my residents to serve them to the best of my ability.”

Walsh was re-elected to his second four-year term and added, “I can’t wait… we’ve already done some great things, and now we’re going to spend the next four years building an even better, more livable town for everyone.”

Levy was sworn in to his first term as the representative of North Hempstead’s 5th District.

“I am honored by the faith my neighbors have placed in me,” he said. “I’m ready to continue the town’s excellent work and help this administration achieve even greater accomplishments.”

The ceremony included the Presentation of Colors by the Westbury High School ROTC, the Pledge of Allegiance by Ret. United States Navy officer Fred Shaw, and the National Anthem performed by Melanie Luis of Westbury High School. Spiritual leaders joined the event as well, with an invocation by Rabbi Dale Polakoff of Great Neck Synagogue, and Reverend Monsignor Thomas More Coogan of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Manhasset gave the benediction. North Hempstead Receiver of Taxes Mary Jo Collins served as the Mistress of Ceremonies.
