Suffolk County Marine Bureau officers rescued nine baby ducklings from a storm drain in Gilgo Beach.

On June 23, 8:10 p.m., Officers John Rodriguez and Robert Mroczkowski were on beach patrol at Gilgo Beach when passers-by flagged them down and told them there were ducklings in a storm drain on Broadaway. The officers pried open the storm drain grate using a crowbar and dropped down into the drain and rescued the 9 baby ducklings. The mother duckling was waiting nearby.

The officers reunited the babies with their mother and they swam into the Great South Bay.
