Man Pronounced Dead after Being Found Unresponsive in Pool

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating the death of a man after he was found unresponsive in a West Islip swimming pool.

Third Precinct officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man found unresponsive in a swimming pool, located at 105 Graywood Court, on June 16 at approximately 6 p.m. Akinola Johnson was found by a family member and pulled out of the water. The family started CPR until first responders arrived on the scene.

Johnson, 45, a resident of the home, was transported via ambulance to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead.
