Nassau County Legislator Bill Gaylor and Hempstead Town Councilwoman Laura Ryder teamed up with the Lakeview Civic Association, MTA Police officers, Nassau County 5th Precinct officers, and the Town of Hempstead Highway Department on April 20 for a community cleanup initiative in Lakeview.
The collaborative effort, an annual tradition spearheaded by the Lakeview Civic Association, began at the Lakeview LIRR station. Volunteers engaged in various tasks, including litter removal and the planting of fresh flowers and shrubs to enhance the area’s aesthetics.
“While this cleanup coincided with Earth Day, it’s essential to recognize that the environmental preservation of our community isn’t confined to a single day of the year,” Gaylor stated. “By uniting our efforts, we can uphold the beauty of our county year-round.”
