FBI Raids Manhasset Home of Hochul’s Former Deputy Chief of Staff

By Kayleigh Anderson

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has recently searched the Manhasset home of a former deputy chief of staff to Governor Kathy Hochul, although it is unclear what the purpose of the search was.

Linda Sun, who served under Hochul and former Governor Andrew Cuomo, has become the subject of an investigation. According to various news reports, despite the FBI searching Sun’s $3.5 million home, neither she nor her husband, Chris Hu, has been accused of any criminal wrongdoing and no one has been arrested.

Long Island Life & Politics reached out to the FBI on the purpose of the search. An FBI spokesperson said in a statement, “The FBI New York conducted court-authorized law enforcement activity in Manhasset [on July 23],” adding they could not comment any further.

The search warrant came from the U.S. Attorney’s office in Brooklyn. LILP asked the U.S. Attorney’s office for more information, but was told, “No comment.”

According to the governor’s website, Sun previously served as Deputy Superintendent for Intergovernmental Affairs & Chief Diversity Officer at the New York State Department of Financial Services. She has also served as Deputy Chief Diversity Officer and Director of Asian American Affairs for the New York State Executive Chamber, Director of External Affairs for Global NY at Empire State Development and Chief of Staff to former Assemblymember Grace Meng.

Sun was the highest appointed Asian-American in the administration and a first-generation immigrant.

She holds a Master’s degree from Teachers College at Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts from Barnard College at Columbia University.

LILP also reached out to the governor’s office, but has not heard back as of press time.
