Suffolk County Police Arson Section detectives are investigating a fireworks accident that seriously injured a man in East Patchogue.
On December 21 at 5:40 p.m., John Philpotts-Kerr was handling fireworks inside an apartment, located at 138 Pine Neck Ave., when the firework unexpectedly detonated in his lap, injuring his groin.
Philpotts-Kerr, 65, a resident of the home, was transported via medevac helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious physical injuries. There were no other injuries reported.
