New York State Assemblyman Michael Durso (R-Massapequa Park), in partnership with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, recently held a free Shed The Meds-Drug Drop Off Event at the West Islip Public Library.

Residents were able to safely get rid of their unwanted or expired medications by simply dropping them off in their original containers or in a ziplock bag at the library for proper disposal by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office.

“Proper disposal of medication is crucial to protecting our environment and keeping them away from children and others who may abuse them,” Durso said. “Our Shed The Meds events are a great opportunity for folks to clear out their cabinets of unwanted or expired medicine and get rid of them safely. Thank you to the West Islip Library for hosting this event and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office for helping to keep our communities safe.”
