$125K Secured for Irrigation System at Park

North Hempstead Town Councilwoman Christine Liu announced that $125,000 in grants have been received, with the money to be used to install an irrigation system at Park Circle in New Hyde Park.

North Hempstead Town Councilwoman Christine Liu is announcing that she has secured $125,000 in grant funding, to install a new irrigation system at Park Circle in New Hyde Park.

The funding was procured by then-New York State Assemblywoman Gina Sillitti’s office, is something residents have long requested for. In addition to a new irrigation system, the park will include trees and landscaping improvements.

Liu is also spearheading a community survey to gather residents’ input about what they would like to see added to Park Circle in the future. Discussions with the community have already highlighted benches, lighting, and a center gazebo as potential additions. Letters have been sent to nearly 300 households in the community with the survey link, and Liu’s summer interns will be going door-to-door to survey residents in person as well.

“Park Circle is nestled right in the heart of a residential neighborhood in New Hyde Park, so it’s important that any upgrades to the area reflect the vision, needs and priorities of the Park Circle community,” said Liu. “It would be detrimental to the character of the community to make unilateral decisions without their input.”
