Assemblyman Ed Flood (R,C-Port Jefferson) recently presented an official Assembly Proclamation to Earl L. Vandermeulen High School in Port Jefferson, which stood out among the nation’s most elite schools and was recognized by the U.S. News & World Report’s prestigious Best High Schools for STEM rankings.
Schools that excel in providing students with robust science, technology, engineering and mathematics courses can be considered for these rankings and the schools selected must demonstrate a commitment to offering college-level programs such as Advanced Placement (AP) math and science courses with students achieving qualifying scores on exams. Out of the 2,000 nationally ranked schools, Earl L. Vandermeulen High School was ranked 119th in the nation and third on Long Island to reflect its dedication to STEM education. Flood also attended the ribbon cutting for the brand-new Computer Science Center, for which he helped secure funding (A.8803-D).
“It is my utmost honor to recognize the great talents of Earl L. Vandermeulen High School, and the dedication has paid off,” said Flood. “I’m confident you’ll continue to make a positive impact in our community. Wishing you continued success in all your future endeavors!”
